Their Wedding Story

May 2016 a fire went roaring through the town of Fort McMurray and over 50,000 people had to evacuate immediately. It was a miracle that everyone made it out safely but not everyone came out unharmed. Some lost their homes, pets, business and personal belongs.

This, although a tragedy, truly made me proud to be Canadian. Better yet ALBERTAN! We opened up our homes, our schools but most of all we opened up our hearts and did what we could so no one was left behind and received help. People travelled far to bring food, water and gas to those that were stranded, not for hours but some days, on the highways.

Our police and firemen and women worked endless hours to contain what was being called The Beast. There are not enough Thank You or hugs to go around for their sacrifice and dedication to help others.

How does this all fit in with wedding planning?

I got to meet one of those couples that left Fort McMurray with a few minutes warning. They managed to grab a few wedding items and the most important thing… THE WEDDING DRESS. But once they got to Edmonton they quickly realized that going home wasn’t going to happen as fast as they hoped. Their day was going to come and go and what? But they were still determined that they were going to get married.

I got to meet Brad and Lauren and instantly fell in love with them both. They were truly grateful, humble and most of all happy. High school sweetheart determined to say their I DO!  I couldn’t promise them the dream wedding of a life time but I did promise them a wedding. With little less than 3 weeks I started contacting vendors asking how they could help me out. I have to admit it was a little out of my comfort zone because I know how much time and effort goes into a wedding. I even cried a few times on how generous people where and how quickly they jumped to help.

I’m not sure but I think I was overwhelmed more than the bride was. This will be a wedding that I will not forget anytime quickly. New friends that I will cherish for a life time and vendors that come with the Lighthouse approval.

I can not say enough about Pulse Production (http://www.pulseproinc.com) The are a one stop shop for a FULL wedding package. Jennifer is talented behind the lens and does all the photography and her husband keeps everyone dancing with their sound system. I highly recommend their Diamond Package (http://www.pulseproinc.com/diamond-wedding-package.html) This duo donated their services and time. Within minutes of me asking Jen responded with YES what do you need? It took me a few minute because that was cry #1. On a night that their family should have been packing and relaxing they were working a wedding. At least a vacation was just around the corner J Truly an honor to have worked with them both.
